In the era of the European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018, a group of young Europeans decided to publicly demonstrate the values of their national tastes shaped by historical changes, especially in the era of a changing mosaic of nations, in order to strengthen their European belonging and strengthen common ties. They want to do so by guaranteeing consistently good taste not only at the tasting stands during the planned European feast, but also by the good taste of the emerging pro-European attitudes.

Young people want to inspire common European values – our cuisine, culture, folk and history in the international arena, and they want the cohesion of nations. They believe that the times in which we live tend to feel too much social isolation and individualism. We are losing our national identity and our European affiliation, still looking for common points of reference. We do not understand other cultures, we are still not fully Y-E-S (Non-Tolerant, Non-Active), but more and more Creative. “So let’s follow the path of shared values and build a better world,” young people appeal.

Project goals:

  • developing a learning culture
  • protection of national heritage properties among present and future generations
  • increasing intercultural awareness
  • promoting own entrepreneurship and a sense of initiative among young people
  • inclusion of disadvantaged groups in the activities
  • strengthening the synergy effect and cohesion of the EU nations
  • promoting the principles of tolerance and respect for human dignity / cultural distinctiveness
  • activating the local society

In the course of planned activities, the initiative group wants to organize a market of regional dishes and products, a European feast (in folk costumes characteristic of their countries), a chef’s parade (demonstration of dishes with special effects in the city space), and open culinary competitions with the involvement of the local community. The result of the cooperation of the international group will be a culinary e-guide emphasizing the taste values of the countries of origin of the project participants against the background of historical changes, and in a version dedicated to visually impaired people.

The results:

Culinary video tutorials, culinary e-guide, audiobook, DVD (making-off) from the workshops; strengthening and shaping active civic attitudes, increasing linguistic competences, social sensitization, increasing the synergy of nations, increasing intercultural awareness and the importance of protecting national goods for the preservation of own national identity for future generations.

The project is co-financed by the Erasmus + program of the European Union.
