Ambassadors of Local Changes is an initiative implemented under the DiscoverEU Inclusion Action. Its purpose is to enable young people with fewer opportunities to gain educational, cultural, and environmental experiences through sustainable travel across Europe.

The project responds to the growing interest of youth in environmental protection, sustainable development, and European solidarity.

Duration: 1.05.2025 – 31.10.2026

The target group

The project is aimed at young people aged 18–19, who face:

  • Geographical obstacles – living in rural, remote, or peripheral areas with limited access to information, transport, and mobility opportunities.
  • Economic obstacles – coming from families with low income, limited financial stability, and restricted access to extracurricular development opportunities.

Youth will participate in five thematic eco-journeys

  • You Can Make a Difference (Italy)
  • A Drop in the Ocean (Malta)
  • Plastic Memories (Croatia)
  • Who Lives Here? Biodiversity (The Netherlands)
  • Breathe Deeply (Greece)

Each group (5 youth + 1 accompanier) will:

  • develop a Local Action Project, relevant to the environmental problem of the chosen country,
  • organize an eco-awareness event,
  • cooperate with local organizations, municipalities, and residents,
  • document the entire process through video, photos, and written reports.

Tangible project results:

  • a making-of film from each journey,
  • a timelapse capturing natural or environmental phenomena,
  • a full visual documentation of each Local Action Project,
  • a structured reflective report.

Intangible project results

Young people with fewer opportunities will:

  • gain environmental knowledge in five key areas: climate change, water saving, air quality, biodiversity, and recycling,
  • develop essential life and soft skills,
  • grow in confidence and independence,
  • broaden their horizons and overcome mental and social barriers,
  • strengthen their sense of European belonging and civic responsibility,
  • develop long-lasting pro-environmental attitudes and active citizenship.
